Oliver update! 17 months….
oliver seemed to change hugely over vacation – i mark 17 months was a atom growth spurt allowing for regarding him in many ways. i’m using this format i’ve used before to catching a lot of it. age: 17.5 monthsphysical abilities: remains charming physically adept. he figures out new tricks all the age, with climbing on his stroller so he can jump off the front bar, or on vacation he acclimated to a nearby chair and some impressive loftier body strength to fling himself into his duffel bag-n-engage in for some unsocial and unapproved binky without delay. he’s really into …um…cantilevering (?) now. i’m not inescapable what to call it, but he’ll put his toes one place and his arms/head another place so his body is stretched across the gap like a bridge. he does this all over. he’s eating much better with a spoon or fork. this boy loves swimming. we were in hawaii for 1.5 weeks and he was basically a in keeping snap of driftwood, knocked rolling up the beach by waves (i was right there!), crisis scoured with soft sand, laughing the unrestricted time and uninterrupted back in. later i’ll have some pictures of him from uncle will’s underwater camera. he’s terribly shrewd underwater. speech/language: we got to profit from a larger explosion in elocution during vacation – it had started just before and was in full swing, so i think 17 months for him was the big transition to sentences. his pronounciation is tremendous for many things, but he can’t authority “s” in a word or “r” at all, so he uses substitutions for those. oddly, he can say “l” inimitably but i’m wondering if that will become extinct . that was a late submerge in the interest of amelia. some of my favorite sentences/phrases during vacation:”mamoose jump trash.” (this is supposed to be ‘mongoose jumped out of the trash’ – he told this story over and over and still does as the mongoose jumed right into his bite on the bullet – it was quite startling!)”amelia sparky hat” (supposed to be ‘amelia’s sparkly hat’ – when he picked up her new hawaii hat with sparkly bits on it)”(chortling) binky under bankie!” (supposed to be ‘aha! i’ve discovered my binky second to the blanket!’)”i turn off wawa” this one is catchy obvious. he’s using “i” a fair amount then. in language right now he’s a bit obsessed with prepositions but mostly “under.” he’s always talking about what is under what – us under a tunnel, his binky under a blanket, the cat under a table. he’s also a bit obsessed with movement – he points out constantly who’s walking “people dock” (for some reason he can’t say “walk”) or running “amelia period!” he’s just starting to use gerunds (”i running”) or spinning, etc. he still has many cute toddlerisms, love cats are “meow meows” and birds are “cheep cheeps” and trains are “toot toots.” and he does a lot of single words, but sentences are very much stereotyped now, 3-4 words. oh, and this amuses me from the perspective of what kids are interested in – he can name all of bob’s vehicles and has seen the show peradventure 3x (muck, spoon out, dizzy, etc) as affectionately as the characters, and he knew the correct names of various sports balls the day he first heard them. i got a small give up the ghost of baseball/football/soccer ball/basketball toys to play with at the beach and he names them all correctly now. amelia isn’t interested adequate to know them at age 4!reading/pre-reading: i think he could learn to take aim read a ton of words just from what i saw once now. we were playing magnadoodle on the aircraft and i was composition pictures for him. i asked him if he wanted me to write mommy- he said yes so i did. then he “asked” me to put in writing other words (by saying “more” or saying the word). later that day and then again a hardly days later he could still identify mommy, amelia, oliver, truck, ball. i don’t think we’ll be doing this as there are many other things in life to do but it’s interesting shrewd that faculty is there.many stuff: he’s very comfortable with the concept “two” moment. he’ll point out 2 of something – like last night in line for tacos he adage a dog and said “doggie!! two doggie!” i haven’t seen him celebrity 3 for objects, nor is he counting. other cognitive kit: puzzles, reasoning, etc: ethical love amelia at this age, he’s exceptionally interested in people. we were visiting two friends (including uncle will!) and he immediately knew their names, bonded with them, and would ask about them whenever we were not counting. he is also showing he can make connections, like when we said “it’s time to leave – we’re going to fiddle astound the slide home” he said “doh airport” (go airport) since he remembered that airport is connected to bewitching a airliner. creativity: loves to scribble – whenever he sees amelia coloring or some crayons/pens, he rushes up …
